Anyone done Psychology A Level? Advice please?

It sounds pretty interesting to me and I am on the list to start the AS level in September but I keep hearing that it is no where near as good as it sounds and that basically you have to just learn names of psychologists, dates and it's just really boring and hard work. Is this true? What sort of things do you learn about and would you personally recommend the subject? Please make it clear why you do/don't like the subject. Thanks.
