Would you agree America and humanity in general as a society, is unavoidably religious?

Yes. I do think that there is a new movement amongst the religious to divorce their religion from their political beliefs. If that were not the case, I don't think that New York would have passed an amendment allowing gay marriage. Many are religious, but at the same time, many of the religious realize that their religion is not the only one, and that they must get along with other religions and those that don't believe in a God at all.
