Is this what is wrong with the mental health care system today?
Ok first I'll share my story. When I was 9 I went to a child psychologist for phobias and ocd tendencies and she treated me and helped me overcome them so the care was good in that sense. But the thing Im concerned with is why I was there she observed that I displayed some of the tendencies of someone with Aspergers and that there was a possibility I had it. But I was not diagnosed but my parents at the time ran with that assumption and started reprimanding me for the least little behavior telling me it was because of a disorder. Just a while ago I started going to a teen/ adult psychologist for anxiety issues and I asked him if he could get me a diagnosis and he was SHOCKED and told me I didnt possess any traits or behaviors that would even suggest Aspergers and that I didnt have it and that I was only introverted and intellectual. My problem is what if this has happened to a lot of people being diagnosed when they were a kid as having a problem only to "grow out" of the symptoms.
